The University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is a student run organization that aims to connect UofT students with professional consulting firms. UTCA hosts several events throughout the school year that allow students to gain exposure to the consulting world.

2010-2011 Executive Team


The 2010-2011 UTCA executives has been working since the summer to build on last year's successes and add even more great events.


Angel Liang
Co-President
  • Co-President
  • 4th year Rotman Commerce student specializing in Finance and Economics
  • Previously served as the Vice President Finance
  • Was also involved with the Rotman Commerce Finance Association as the Director of Internal Affairs and previously as the Director of Marketing
  • Currently works as a Lab Assistant at the Rotman Financial Research and Trading Lab
  • Previous work experience includes internships in the hotel industry and at the Royal Bank of Canada as a Business Development Associate
  • Hobbies include reading, listening to music, dancing, and watching movies

Anna Sheu
Co-President
  • Co-President
  • 4th year Industrial Engineering student
  • Completed a Professional Experience Year with Deloitte in Enterprise Risk Services
  • Previously served as the Vice President Professional Events and Vice President Internal
  • During her second year, Anna was part of a Volunteer Consulting Group team that investigated the logistics of a speaking tour for ideaNation. In addition, they provided recommendations regarding marketing, budget, implementation and organizational growth
  • Past work experience includes being a Research Student in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department in the area of microfluidics, and as a Business Analyst for Canadian Tire Corporation in Supply Chain Major Projects
  • Anna has been heavily involved in the community and student life at UofT particularly with the Industrial Engineering Club and Junior Achievement Company Program
  • In her spare time, Anna enjoys reading, and watching and playing sports including: hockey, badminton, biking, basketball, tennis and swimming

Claire Glossop

Professional Events

  • 4th Year Economics and International Relations student
  • Currently employed at Rotman School of Management researching the effect of media attention on firm performance
  • Member of the winning team in the UTCA 2010 Business Case Competition and active competitor in other competitions
  • Experienced sailing instructor in Canada and the United States
  • Member of U of T Sailing and Intramural Volleyball teams
  • Hobbies include competitive dinghy and big boat sailing, long distance running, dancing, Bikram yoga, swimming, and skiing


Saifu Li
Vice President Internal

  • 3rd year Industrial Engineering student
  • Completed Engineering Summer Internship Program (ESIP) as a Quality Assurance Analyst at NexJ Systems Inc. – a leading provider of people-oriented enterprise solutions
  • Past work experience includes being an Assistant to Facilities and Technical Coordinators in UofT's Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department
  • Saifu has taken leadership roles in the U of T Engineering Society as Class Representative for two consecutive years and now serves as the Professional Director for the Industrial Engineering Club
  • As the Curriculum Enhancement Director for Engineers Without Borders, Saifu has organized seminars, workshops, and design projects to raise student awareness about international development issues in Africa
  • Saifu has received a Certificate for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Small Business Management for completing a series of entrepreneurship and business management courses
  • He enjoys skydiving, basketball, daily exercise, and home cooking


Yi Luo
Vice President
Marketing

  • 3rd year Rotman Commerce student
  • Last year, served as the Vice President Internal and oversaw the organization and execution of UTCA’s annual Business Case Competition
  • In her first year, was involved with UTCA as a volunteer consultant for Volunteer Consulting Group and helped rejuvenate Vaughan Youth Cabinet, a youth activism organization
  • Work experiences include an internship at the Royal Bank of Canada, Interpreter for Special Olympics, and various volunteer positions
  • Loves reading, traveling, and badminton

Mansoor Ahmad
Vice President
Marketing


  • Vice President Marketing
  • 3rd year student double-majoring in Genetics and Biotechnology, and Human Geography
  • He completed his International Baccalaureate Diploma at Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong, and is studying at UofT on full scholarship as a designated "International Scholar"
  • Mansoor is extensively involved in campus life, was President of the Pakistani Students Federation last year, and has held various other executive positions. He excels in debating and model United Nations, where he has led teams to success at numerous international competitions
  • Past work experience includes working as an assistant at Prince of Wales Hospital Hong Kong and as a facilitator at Culture Club of Hong Kong
  • Past projects include HIV/ Aids awareness trip to China, community service trips to China and Myanmar, and a peace and goodwill trip to North Korea
  • He is multilingual in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi and Arabic. And loves to play Squash, Cricket and Golf in his free time

Rankie Wong
Vice President
Finance


  • Vice President Finance
  • 4th year Engineering Science student specializing in Manufacturing Systems
  • Despite being in engineering, he is extremely interested in the areas of finance and management consulting
  • Rankie recently completed a summer internship at DBS Vickers Securities (Hong Kong) as an equity research assistant, focusing on the China IT sector
  • He previously worked as a summer intern for ING Clarion Real Estate Securities conducting equity research in the real estate market
  • He is currently the Vice President Internal for the University of Toronto Hong Kong Students Association, where he helps organize many sports and cultural events for their members
  • Rankie also has a passion for music: other than playing piano, he was also the Principal Bassist for the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra and Hart House Orchestra, as well as French Hornist for the Skule Brass Ring. He played jazz bass for the VCDS production of City of Angels, and plays electric bass in a pop band with his friends
  • In his free time, he enjoys watching and playing sports such as soccer, hockey and badminton, and going to the gym

Kelsey Barton

Daniela Miao

  • Vice President Volunteer Consulting Group
  • 3rd year Engineering Science student majoring in the Electrical and Computer option currently completing a Professional Experience Year with IBM Canada as a Database Performance Analyst
  • Has served as the VP VCG since 2009 mainly acting as a liaison between the VCG teams and local non-profit organizations
  • Two years ago, Daniela was involved with a VCG team to develop marketing strategies for rabble.ca, that entailed creating different plans to attract more readership and maintain a constant source of sustainable income
  • Past work experience includes being an Engineering Assistant for a design engineering company and researching Internet security with a university professor
  • Hobbies include soccer, tennis, reading, and occasional gaming

Amanda Amaral
Vice President
Volunteer Consulting Group


  • Vice President Volunteer Consulting Group
  • 2nd year Mathematics and Psychology student with a particular interest in financial economics and cognitive psychology
  • From 2006 - 2008, she held the position as the Director of Marketing and Professional events of the PSA Automotive Club coordinating weekly meetings and yearly events
  • She is presently working as a volunteer for Wordswell Association for Community Learning, a non-profit organization which caters to the empowerment of youth and the strengthening of literacy, comprehension, speech, and critical thinking
  • Her previous work experience includes placements in customer service and sales industries such as HBC’s the Bay, Bell Mobility, and Best Buy
  • In her spare time, Amanda likes to spend time with her family, listen to music, and play taboo
