Teams will not be allowed to reclaim the registration fee after the deadline on January 10th.
UTCA will evaluate the team's application as a whole and accept the best 15 teams, additional teams will be waitlisted. Application results (Accept,Reject or Waitlisted) will be available on January 5. Should a team withdraw or fail to submit their registration fee by the January 10 deadline, waitlisted teams will be notified by e-mail.
Teams are not admitted to the Business Case Competition until they are selected and notified by UTCA as so.
Presentations
Teams must have signed-in at the UTCA welcome desk no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of their presentation time slot.
Each team will be given a 30 minute time slot between 9:15 - 11:45 am for the First Round, consisting of 5 minutes setup, 15 minutes presentation, 5 - 10 minutes Q&A.
If any one of the 4 members is late or not present during the start of the team's presentation (without valid reason), 5 percentage points will be deducted from the 'Presentation' category of the marking scheme. Teams require a minimum of 3 members present in order to compete.
Each member of the team is required to present material (applies to both rounds).
There are no limits to the sources used in making the presentation.
Judging
The presentation in the first round will not count in the evaluation of the presentation in the Final Round.
Judges are not to allocate the same total score to any team within the same pool.
Judges from each pool will choose the top team to present at the final round.
The UTCA Executive will make final decisions for Honorary Award recipients based on nominations from Round 1 judges.
Other
The teams are not allowed to watch any of the other teams' presentations in the first round.
Final round will be open attendance to teams and special guests.
All material used and prepared during the case competition is the property of UofT Case Competition.
Any violation of the rules above will result in immediate termination and disqualification of the team.
The University of Toronto Consulting Association reserves the right to disqualify any team that conducts themselves in an unprofessional manner in any aspect of their participation in the Business Case Competition 2010.
No prior consulting experience is required, nor is it expected. Anyone with an interest in consulting, or who wishes to gain valuable experience is encouraged to participate! Case Competition is open to undergraduate students of all disciplines, faculties and campuses.
Can graduate students participate?
Due to the difference in experience and skill between undergraduate and graduate students, the Case Competition is only open to undergraduate students.
Can I form a team with less than four people?
Each team that registers must have four team members, and three must be present the day of the competition. It should be noted that if one of the four members is late or not present during the start of the team's presentation (without valid reason), 5 percentage points will be deducted from the 'Presentation' category of the marking scheme.
What if one or more of my team members unable to be present the day of the competition?
If there is a conflict you must notify UTCA as soon as possible. Teams may substitute team members up until the case is released.
Do I have to attend the Case Comp Prep session?
At least three members from each qualifying team must be present at the Case Comp Prep Session. Attendance will be taken at the start of the event. Teams that fail to attend the Prep Session without a legitimate reason will automatically be disqualified.

After a busy day of presentations and events, the UTCA Business Case
Competition 2009 has drawn to a successful end! Congratulations to the
Champions Derrick Fung, Darya Akulshyna, Hilori Kaloti, and Cici Liu of Team
12! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the contestants for
participating in the competition, and to all our audience for viewing the
presentations.

The UTCA case competition is a high profile one-day event, which provides a venue to share consulting strategies with other students and network with industry professionals. Teams consisting of four participants are given a case in which they analyze and provide a fifteen-minute presentation.
The Business Case Competition will be held on January 24th 2009. Judges from the world's top management consulting firms will select the winners. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams.

What happens if I register and pay for the event, but my team is not one of the first 14 to register?
If you are not one of the first 14 teams to register, you will be placed on a waitlist and will be notified when a space becomes available. Cheques received from teams that are waitlisted but are unable to participate will be destroyed.
