UTCA Exec Recruitment

The University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is looking for new executives for the 2009-2010 school year! We are seeking dynamic and committed individuals with an interest in management consulting.

In the past, UTCA has organized case competitions in association with high caliber international university associations, consulting workshops, firm visits, and case interview seminars with all of the leading consulting companies.

Participants have included: Accenture, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, IBM Global Business Services, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman, Monitor Group, ZS Associates, Harvard Graduate Consulting Club and more!

To apply for an executive position:

*STEP 1* - Answer the following 3 questions (each answer to be no more than 200 words)

a) Why do you want to be an executive with the UTCA next year?
b) How do you hope to contribute as an executive (ie, what will you bring in order to take UTCA to the next level)?
c) What has been your greatest achievement at U of T to date?

*STEP 2* - Along with the 3 answers, submit your most recent resume (pdf or word doc) to utca.exec@gmail.com with the SUBJECT: 'FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME - POSITION'

Positions Available are:

1. VP Internal (1 position)

  • Director for the Annual Business Case Competition
  • Maintains membership list and tracks attendance at each event
  • Manages all emails directed to the UTCA (including folder organizations and email replies)
  • Responsible for administrative tasks including room & AV rental bookings
  • Coordinates Club's Day Fair for UTCA in September
  • Coordinates production of Annual Report for Student Affairs

    • 2. VP Marketing (2 positions ñ one for Engineering, one for Arts & Science)

  • Manages all marketing campaigns including: posters, email, website material, attending campus events, booths, brochures, and supplemental marketing materials
  • Responsible for member turnout at UTCA events
  • Develops Case Competition Event Programme
  • Work with the Commerce Students Association and Commerce Career Office to promote UTCA events (VP Marketing for Arts & Science)

    • 3. VP Communications (1 position)

  • Develops and maintains the UTCA Website on a regular basis
  • Provides technical expertise and support for all UTCA events
  • Manages correspondence between members and the executive through the website
  • Assists in managing emails directed to UTCA
    • *Please Note*: Must have previous experience in web design and knowledge in the areas of HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL

    4. VP Volunteer Consulting Group (1 position)

  • Liaison with charitable organizations to establish projects
  • Liaison with consulting firms to recruit Subject Matter Experts and Case Team Advisors
  • Responsible for selection of case team members
  • Past projects include work for: ideaNation, Cottage Dreams, the Gatehouse, DOC, Tides Canada, Youth Without Shelter, Vaughan Youth Cabinet, rabble.ca and other established charities
  • Opportunity to gain consulting experience while contributing to community development
    • *Please Note*: This role is a 2-year commitment. The first year will be to get familiar with the role and learn from the current VP Volunteer Consulting Group.

    5. VP Finance (1 position)

  • Manages the UTCA budget
  • Prepares monthly budget summary reports
  • Develops sponsorship package for consulting firms
  • Prepares Year-End financial statements for the Annual Report
  • Coordinates budget planning and ensures that all costs are within the budget set out for the year

    The University of Toronto Consulting Association (UTCA) is excited to present a Cover Letter & Resume Critique service in partnership with Deloitte Consulting's Strategy & Operations Team.

    It's as simple as 1-2-3

    1) Prepare a Cover Letter & Resume for the Business Analyst Position with Deloitte's Strategy & Operations Team. You can download the job posting by clicking here

    2) Submit Cover Letter & Resume in word or pdf format:
    - Deadline (ongoing): From Monday March 9, 2009 (9am)to Friday March 20, 2009 (noon)
    - Submit to: utca.deloitte@gmail.com

    3) Within 2 weeks, a representative from Deloitte Consulting will email you back with constructive feedback detailing:
    - Areas of Improvement
    - What Deloitte Consulting is really looking for…not just Deloitte but other strategy consulting firms in general

    Students will also have the opportunity to re-submit their Cover Letter & Resume for a final review.
